Engine Steady Bars – Fixed Length

Classic Mini engine steady bar. These are a direct replacement for the steel factory fitted item.
In 1990 the engine moved forwards to accommodate the HIF carb fitted to 1275cc engines at that time. As a result, the steady bar needed to be longer. The longer bar is also used on automatics. However, it is our understanding that the manual 998cc cars retained the original engine position until the end of production in 1992.
On that basis, you should use the following:
- Short – All cars up to 1990 and 998’s up to end of production. Also all automatics. 161mm centres.
- Long – All 1275 cars after 1990. 170mm centres.
These bars are designed to utilise the standard bushes, so you have a choice of rubber or polyurethane.
Anodised black, blue, red or silver.
