Bottom Engine Steady Bars
£30.00(incl. VAT)
For use on all Mini’s where a bracket is provided in the front subframe. This bar locates from the right hand side of the gearbox (as you sit in the car) to the front cross beam of the subframe.
If your subframe doesn’t have the bracket, it is possible to weld one in.
In 1990 the engine moved forwards to accommodate the HIF carb fitted to 1275cc engines at that time. As a result, the lower steady bar needed to be shorter. However, it is our understanding that the manual 998cc cars retained the original engine position until the end of production in 1992.
On that basis, you should use the following:
- Long – All cars up to 1990 and 998’s up to end of production. 148mm centres.
- Short – All 1275 cars with manual transmission after 1990. 139mm centres.
These bars are designed to utilise the standard bushes, so you have a choice of rubber or polyurethane.
This is not suitable to replace the rearward facing steady bars fitted to a few earlier cars.
Anodised black, blue, red or silver.
